With the Net Effect, Interface showed that even carpets can be sustainable. The Net Effect collection takes inspiration from the undulating waves of the ocean in more ways than one. Besides capturing the beauty of the waters in the design, the carpets are made from discarded fishing nets and has made carpet manufacturing socially beneficial.
Impact:
The collection and the technology of Net-Works provides significant economic benefits to fishing communities, protects marine life and helps vulnerable beaches and reefs. So far almost 100 tonnes of old fishing nets have been collected and 55,000 people have benefitted from it.
